Water Powered Pivot Takes Tasmania by Storm

There is an exciting new player in the irrigation game – the Hydraulic Monospan pivot by RKD. This single span, water-powered pivot has cutting-edge benefits. It doesn’t require any electricity and reduces the labour needed to irrigate. Available through Tasmanian irrigation equipment supplier Agline, this new pivot is a great solution for farmers in Tasmania and is becoming a popular sight on Tasmanian farms.

Agline irrigation consultant Nathan says, “it is perfect for those tight spots on your farm, that corner block that you are watering with manual systems or the edges that your large system misses”.

This one span machine can cover a surprising amount of ground. RKD the manufacturers of this machine say that their most common configuration is a 59m span fitted with a 24m, or 30m overhang and an end gun which can irrigate an area of up to 4 hectares!

The RKD Hydraulic Monospan will run on pressures approximately half those needed to run gun irrigation systems. Also, because it is water-powered this pivot does not require any generator or electrical connection making it incredibly versatile and cost-effective. This is opening up new options for farmers, allowing them to irrigate where it was not possible previously, increasing their growing capacity, without a large investment.

The ease of use and automation of watering is what makes this pivot most attractive to Tasmanian farmers, with automatic start/ stop for the machine and the end gun farmers can irrigate all of their property automatically. This saves hours spent towing and checking in on traveling irrigators.

The Hydraulic Monospan Pivot is a more efficient alternative in areas that were traditionally watered manually. It offers farmers savings in time and infrastructure and a more autonomous irrigation solution.
